Milwaukee

Joel, Liv, and I just returned from a quick trip to Milwaukee. We most enjoyed Captain Pabst's beautiful home decorated for the holidays. Here we are at the fantastic addition to the art museum.

Christmas!

Here we are over at Mom and Dad's house showing off our gifts during our immediate family's Christmas get together - as well as for Dad's Birthday. Everyone had a great time, even if we all look a little goofy in the pictures. Merry Christmas All!

Saturday, December 09, 2006

Mom and Dad came over to our house tonight and we all made gingerbread houses. It started out pretty rough with sagging roofs, cave-ins and running out of frosting (I admit, i ate a lot of it), but all in all we had a fun time. We can feel the Christmas season coming on!

US News knows about Klingons!

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/biztech/articles/061112/20share.htm

...But in the past few years, behind-the-scenes upgrades have made it easier for ordinary people to take control of the Web, to broadcast their perspectives, whether that happens in a video clip of a guy demonstrating the "Evolution of Dance" or a downloadable recording of weekly Bible verses in Klingon. And all that expression is fast becoming more of a conversation. ...

[In case anyone doesn't know, that refers to my "A Klingon Word from the Word" podcast, found at http://KlingonWord.org]
I went to CHicago last weekend with my friends JOhn, Eamonn and Micah. Unfortunately I didnt take out the camera until after micah had already left for home, so I dont have any pictures of all four of us. we really did have a lot of fun, even though we may not look like it in this picture. before I snapped this photo, john said "let's take a serious one." so of course eamonn and I are looking really tough while john has a goofy grin on his face. we spent most of our time at depaul visiting friends from high school, but we did visit north park too. I can definitely say that while I do miss living in the grand city of chicago, I am happier at the univerity of minnesota than I was, or would be at north park.

Housewarming - Thanks to all!

Kitchen - View 1, originally uploaded by onebigswede.

Just a quick post to say thanks to everyone who came to our housewarming party a week or so ago. We had a wonderful time, and we hope to have you all over many times in the coming years.

For those who weren't able to make it, or who didn't get the full tour, here are the final photos that we took of our house after all the painting, and other house work was finally done - as well as a video showing our house being built. Thanks again!

MR NOISY

As I told several of you at Pete and Maria's lovely open house, I was given a citation for "noisy assembly" on friday night. while most of the people at the party also received tickets for underage consumption of alcohol, I passed all three of my breathalizer tests with .000's. my friend micah who was also sober and also ticketed for being a part of a noisy assembly emailed Darcy Pohland from WCCO about the incident since she had recently done a story about the U of M party patrol. Micah called me up today to say that Darcy was coming over to his house to interview him and wondered if I wanted to come too. So I was on the six oclock news today. here is a link to the story on the WCCO website.

First again!

As the oldest member of the Anderson boys I have celebrated many firsts: first one to go to kindergarten, graduate from H.S. and college, get married, start a family , turn 20,30,40,50 and soon 60, etc
Tomorrow due to elevated PSA tests last summer and a couple of weeks ago I will, as far as I know ,be the first Anderson to experience a biopsy of my prostate gland. I have experienced no pain or symptoms. The PSA scores do not indicate a definite problem but determine the need to have the biopsy to remove the question mark and decide what needs to be done if anything. I will get the results on friday. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Four cousins and a wedding

My "little" cousin David (age 37) got married Sunday night on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. It was a bit chilly, especially for the bride in her strapless dress, but a great ceremony and party. The first picture is of my cousin Tom (left) and newly-discovered cousin Ron (facing), the second is of my cousin Ann with my parents, and the third is of Dave and Kelly.

Big Ten Again

Just to tie in the University of Michigan for John and Lynda's sake, here is a picture of the Little Brown Jug. Because it is so rare for it to be in the Gophers' possession, it is on display at the State Fair this year. It's pretty cool because you can see scores dating back to 1903!

Wednesday, August 30, 2006

So I was all like "Stevie's switching schools? Crap, I better too!" So I switched too. Yep. I'm going to Madison. Basically it boils down to a) bigger b) Russian c) more options d) Russian. So yeah, that's my story. Go Badgers!

News

Welcome to the Big Ten, Stevie! Liv has some news too, which I will let her disclose. I noticed that the State Fair posts dozens of photos each day, and Day 1 featured this photo of Liv looking bored in her root beer barrel.

I am living at home and attending the U of M this fall. I dont know if everyone, or anyone knows about that yet. I have had a good summer teaching and playing tennis, riding my bike around and swimming, and doing heaven knows what else. I wish it didnt have to end, but I think that most of my classes will be pretty sweet

25 weeks

25 weeks pregnant, 15 weeks more to go. My nurse called and said I have slight anemia. So, I'll be eating big steaks and hamburgers in the future....

We found a daycare. It's called A Child's View. Hope it will be okay.
I have to go to a conference in Denver for work next week. I wish I didn't have to travel in pregnancy.
Matt is painting the nursery yellow...

A Betsy-Tacy Picnic

Dale (from work) and I drove down to Mankato today to see the Betsy-Tacy-Tib sights as we are both big fans of the Maud Hart Lovelace books. A nice woman took our picture on the memorial bench; she lived next door and was used to doing such for pilgrims from around the world. For those of you not interested in girls' fiction, the other picture is of our new Toyota Matrix station wagon.

Anderbiking

To help me get ready for my upcoming hernia repair surgery on July 14, Stevie and I went on a 57 mile bike ride today to Excelsior and Carver Park near Victoria. My surgery will be outpatient friday morning and will be followed by a six week recovery period of limited physical activity. In addition to logging the miles we went for a refreshing swim in Lake Minnetonka at Excelsior. What a great day and what a great ride.

Koko and Mama, together again

Well, today I circumvented my two-month review by quitting instead. The boss agreed the work was slow and boring, so she wasn't totally surprised that I wasn't challenged. Because I was still a probationary employee, she said there was no reason for me to hang around two weeks, so I cleaned things up and walked out in an hour (only forgetting two pieces of art). I was quite a sight on the bus with all my photographs, boxes of treats, backpack, lunch bag, and little pink pillow. Fortunately, Deborah has been kind enough to find me some work to do back at IAC. I would feel sillier except for a headline yesterday about Jose Canseco asking the San Diego Surf Dawgs to trade him after one game in which he struck out three times!

Ander-biking, then and now

My dad put these photos up on 'Wilton Drive,' but I thought that they would go well on the Anderblog! The first photo is from 1992, and the second is from a couple of weeks ago. Where are those helmets, Anderfamily? By the way, the house looks great, Peter! How exciting.

Siding is all up!, originally uploaded by onebigswede.

Old Photos

I have some old photos of Grandma and Grandpa Anderson - as well as some other unknown relatives - posted on my flickr account. Ingrid was asking if i knew who some of the people in the photos were, and maybe where they were taken. If anyone (Paul?) can shed some light on these photos, that would be nice. Feel free to comment on the photo pages about who they may be - and where they were taken.

rollin with the homies

so, in response to stevie's pondering what st. paulites home from college do here's my answer:

1) hanging out with friends at perkins (aka perk-perk).
2) eye appointments.
3) going to the dollar theatre.
4) taking care of koko all day, which just so everyone knows isn't that fun.
5) practicing guitar.
6) talking to friends from olaf online.
7) watching movies (if you haven't seen Goodbye Lenin, which odds are you haven't, go rent it right now).
8) playing sims 2 university.
9) counting down the days until i leave to study russian (9 days).

well, that's all i can think of. it's not that exciting of a life.
in the words of stephen r. anderson (no relation):

Sunday, May 28, 2006

I have been home from school for the last couple of weeks now. yesterday I biked and went swimming in lake harriet with my friends john, devin and anthony. we grilled up some brats in devin's back yard and I found an inner tube in his neighbor's garbage. then today I floated down the minnehaha creek with john, micah, will and moe. since it was 97 degrees here in minneapolis, it felt great to be in the water. it is great to be home. I wonder what the people in st paul do for fun

Happy Birthday - and our new house

Happy birthday Mae and Ingrid!

As you all know, we're in the middle of building a new house, and moving out of our townhouse. We're officially moving out next weekend, we'll be moving in with Maria's parents until our new house is done. Our house should be done by July 31st. We'll be having an open house probably sometime in August, so keep that in mind!

Here is a look at our new house, and where it is in the construction process.

Happy Birthday to the oldest of my three sons, whom I had when I was practically in my teens! Anybody believe that? I don't remember too much anymore... just how good the french toast tasted at breakfast, since I hadn't eaten for so long. Oh yes, I remember how happy and excited we were. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PETER!

Surgery

Just a quick note from the hospital waiting room computer.. Maria's mom is out of surgery, and things went about as well as can be expected. They removed the tumor from her breast, as well as some tissue from around the tumor. They also took some lymph nodes, which from preliminary tests don't look to be cancerous. She's in the recovery room right now, and she'll be going home later tonight after being checked out.

So all in all - it looks to be good news so far. Please keep her in your prayers as she continues her recovery.

Surgery Tomorrow

Just a reminder to everyone to pray for Maria's mom tomorrow as she'll be undergoing surgery for her breast cancer. We'll be sure to give an update as soon as we know more.

Wednesday, May 03, 2006

well I am still here in chicago. I have a week and a couple days left. I am not sure about Liv but this first year of college has flown by, especially this second semester. Christmas break seems more like a couple of weeks ago than the four months that it has been. the year is definitely winding down now as I enter finals season. I have a final paper due tomorrow and next week I have a 15 page philosophy paper due, as well as final exams in my african american history class, christian ethics, and intermediate algebra. the only thing I am worried about is the 15 page paper, but boy am I worried.
