I spent three days on the North Shore with three friends from high school to celebrate our 50th birthdays (all in the spring). We did a little hiking and a lot of eating. We made fools of ourselves, trying to take pictures of ourselves everywhere... you'd think we'd never been out of the house before! The following picture was taken by a passing stranger on the boardwalk in Duluth when we saw the "50" on the red marker. Unfortunately, shortly after this happy scene, I threw my back out (riding home in the car!) and ended up in Urgent Care that night.

Radio Free Klingon!
Now on the air!
There was an interesting article in the paper (actually both Minneapolis and St. Paul) last week all about the Radio Re-Volt project for microbroadcasting. The Walker is holding workshops and giving out FM radio transmitters. Sounded interesting to me, and I found where to buy one, so I've set up my own "home radio station". The Radio Free Klingon mix runs from Country to Rock to anything I found on the computer I'm using to spin the tunes. So far all my listeners are raving! (all two of them!)

Colorado Photos
Hey y'all.
Here are some photos from a hiking trip my botanist friend and I took after the evolution meetings in June. We were in the Rocky Mountain National Park. It would have been helpful to have a geologist and a zoologist along with us, since there were lots of cool rocks around, and large mammals (moose and elk?).

Elephant head, Pedicularis groendlandica
Trout lily, Erythronium grandiflorum
