Swedes Reach the Moon!

Click on the image above to see the lonnnnng, slow route that was taken to get to the moon. Thrifty Swedes, they reached the moon with lots of fuel left over!

SMART-1 is the first of ESA's 'Small Missions for Advanced Research in Technology'. It reached the Moon using revolutionary propulsion techniques and carrying a battery of miniaturised instruments. (click here for ESA web page about SMART-1).

Launched by the ESA last year, this is a Swedish built spacecraft and is only the second ever using an ion-drive as its main rocket.
