What's up, family! No one's been posting anything in awhile. Although I guess blogs are old snooze compared to the technology of facebook, on which our family has been communicating.
I just figured I'd put a little note up for folks.
I find that I enjoy teaching.
My class has already achieved quite a few of our learning goals. My secret goal is to get them to master Pre-K by the end of January. I think we can do it.
Baton Rouge is now officially "cold." And I think the past few months of desert heat in Arizona and swampy heat here have made me lose my Minnesota frostbite strength.
I ran a 5k last week and I'll be running another one next week. Woo. It's an interesting way to see parts of New Orleans.
Come visit me!
I'm about to write a new donorschoose grant in case you want to help my kids learn letters. It'd be SWEET.
XOXO,
Your favorite niece/daughter/cousin/second cousin once removed/sister,
The burning car is Beckie's mom Renee's. It's the Honda that we drove for 4 years. Good bye old friend! I was tempted to cut a piece of charred fabric as a keepsake but decided against it. She was the best car a person could ask for...
I got a phone call at work today from my next door neighbor telling me that our neighborhood was on fire, and that I better get home and get our dog, just in case the fire kept spreading.
The fire was huge (you may have seen it on the news), but after fighting the fire for 3-4 hours, the firefighters finally got it under control.
It was pretty scary for a while, but we're thankful for the fire department, that they were able to keep the fire at bay.
Hey family---It's been awhile since I've posted, sorry about that. I've been busy with school/work/playing with my pets. Well, here's some fun news. Your favorite niece/cousin/daughter/sister (aka me) got into Teach for America yesterday! I got placed in Baton Rouge/the Baton Rouge area to teach early childhood education. I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to take it or not, I'll let you know, but as it stands I'm leaning that way.
Last weekend, Teresa, Norris and Liv headed off to Chicago for a Munch exhibition. Koko is less that satisfied with my caregiving it appears, since he spent a lot of time gazing longingly out the window waiting for Teresa to get back.
Meanwhile, Paul and I had a fun movie night with Matt, Janelle and Maizie, watching the classic "Be Kind, Rewind," and enjoying Janelle's excellent homemade pizza!
That is so cute! I think that Koko is assuming the raincoat is for him. I have managed, finally, to enter the Anderson Family blog. You all know me and my computer skills. While I'm here I want to tell Janelle how lovely your solo was last week! and Maizie runs just like her cousin Stevie used to do. Here's to you and your energy level!
